What is Mold?

Mold is a type of fungi that is initially not visible to the naked eye. It thrives in dark and wet environments, although both these conditions do not need to be present for Mold to exist.

Mold produces toxins that are harmful for both humans and animals and damage property. These toxins have already been produced in large quantities by the time the Mold has become visible. Long term exposure to these toxins have been known to aggravate respiratory illness, cough, wheezing, allergies, rashes and bring about red, itchy eyes and sore throat.

Where can you find Mold?

Discoloured and fuzzy in appearance, Mold is found in soil, wood, decaying plants and animals, dry walls, carpets, clothes, leather among other materials. Mold presents itself in damp environments such as wet basements, walls, water damaged property, areas of leakage or contamination. It grows quickly within a 24-48-hour period.
